19 Cocktails That Will Take You All Over The World During Quarantine

Then read on to discover the best cocktail recipes that will take you around the world without leaving home..

After many weeks of being home, and without knowing for sure when we can travel again, we have no choice but to be creative in finding things to do to keep ourselves entertained.

If you are passionate about traveling like me, surely you are not finding it easy to cope with the desire to travel or “wanderlust” during these last months. You can find some of my tips to cure that wanderlust here.

However, Today I bring you another idea that deserves an exclusive article: Make yourself a cocktail from a far away place and take a sip, close your eyes and for a moment transport yourself there!. It will help you feel (or at least pretend) that you are not alone on your sofa.

Prepared? , Here's to that glorious first post-quarantine trip! (when we hope to be able to order these drinks in the place of origin that corresponds to them).

Mexico: The Mercadito

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts of silver tequila
  • ¾ parts of agave syrup (or any other syrup)
  • 1 part of natural lime juice
  • 4 cucumber slices
  • 1 pinch coriander
  • 1 thin slice of jalapeño

Instructions: Crush a slice of cucumber, coriander and jalapeño in a shaker. Add remaining ingredients and shake vigorously with ice. Strain into a shallow glass with fresh ice.. Garnish with cucumber or jalapeño slices..

United Kingdom: Pimm’s Cup

Ingredients:

  • 60ml of Pimm’s No.1
  • 150ml of lemonade
  • 1 strawberry slice, orange and cucumber
  • Mint to decorate

Instructions: Add all ingredients in a glass on ice and stir to mix. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

Italy: Aperol Spritz

Ingredients:

  • 3 parts of prosecco
  • 2 parts of Aperol
  • A pinch of sparkling water
  • Decor: a slice of orange

Instructions: Pour all ingredients into a glass glass with ice and stir. Garnish with the orange slice.

Cuba: The Double Pope (o Hemingway Daiquiri)

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 parts of white rum
  • 1 part of grapefruit juice
  • 3/4 parts of cherry liqueur
  • 1 part of lime juice
  • 1/2 syrup portion

Instructions: mix white rum with lime juice, grapefruit and cherry liqueur. Add ice and mix again.

Paris: French Cucumber 75

Ingredients:

  • 1½ parts of Geneva
  • ½ parted freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ part syrup ( or liquid sugar)
  • 3 cucumber slices
  • Dry wine with some gas or champagne

Instructions: In a shaker, mix the gin, the lemon, syrup and cucumber. Add ice, shake well and strain. Add champagne or sparkling wine on top.

Japan: Matcha Bee

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 part of Vodka
  • 1.5 part of matcha syrup and honey *
  • ¾ parts of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Sparkling water for last
  • Decor: Lemon peel

*Matcha syrup and honey: Add 1 teaspoon matcha green tea a 4 parts of boiling water. Add 4 honey parts and stir well. Simmer for 5-10 minutes. Let cool and store in a glass jar.

Instructions: Combine all the ingredients, shake and strain into a glass or cup. Cover with sparkling water to taste. You can decorate with lemon peel.

Colombia: Michelada de Mango

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of cold mexican beer (I don't try to be ironic, but Corona is definitely the best!)
  • Half lime juice (or more to taste)
  • 3/4 cup mango juice or mango nectar.
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • Hot sauce (optional)
  • Jalapeño to decorate (optional)

Instructions: Mix the salt and chili powder in a shallow dish. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a tall glass and then press the rim into the salt and chili mixture to cover the rim of the glass.
Full 2/3 of the glass with ice and then add the lime juice and the nectar or mango juice. Add a few drops of hot sauce if you like and stir again to mix well. Cover the mixture with beer until the glass is full (you will have beer, but you can add it to tumichelada while you drink).

Miami: Miami Vice

Ingredients:

  • 60ml of white rum
  • 60ml of black rum
  • 1 cup of strawberries (without the green)
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 60ml of coconut cream
  • 60ml of pineapple juice
  • 45ml of lime juice

Instructions: Add 30ml of rum of each type, coconut cream, pineapple juice and half a cup of ice at the mixer on high speed and separate in a glass that you will keep in the freezer. Wash the mixer and now add the rest of the rum, Strawberries, the lime juice and the rest of the ice and crush. Take the first mix out of the freezer (Pina Colada) and cover it with the new mix (Strawberry Daiquiri). Decorate the drink with a strawberry.

Panama: Breakfast in Panama City

Ingredients:

Instructions: Combine everything in the shaker with ice and shake. Pour into a low glass with one or two large ice cubes. Decorate with pineapple leaves.

Italy: Negroni

Ingredients:

Instructions: Mix the liquid ingredients (and cold), shake and pour into a glass full of ice. Add a slice of orange as a garnish.

Brazil: Caipirinha

Ingredients:

  • 1 lima, cut into slices
  • 1 O 2 tablespoons of sugar, to taste
  • 60ml Sugarcane liquor
  • Decor: skin of a lime

Instructions: In a wide glass, mix sugar and lime well. Stuffed with ice, add the cachaça and mix again briefly. Garnish with a lime wheel (optional).

Chile: Secret Garden Sangria

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of tequila white
  • 1 bottle of white wine
  • A bunch of grapes
  • 2 big apples
  • 1 nectarine
  • 2 limas
  • 50ml of lime juice

Instructions: Peel the apples, the nectarine and limes and put them in a jar. Add tequila, lime juice and white wine to the pitcher and put in the fridge for at least six hours (ideally overnight for optimal fragrance and flavor). Serve on ice.

Mexico: Dove

Ingredients:

  • 45ml of reposado tequila
  • 30ml of grapefruit juice
  • 15ml of lime juice
  • 15ml de sirope de agave
  • 1 tablespoon of coarse salt
  • 1 splash of sparkling water
  • Decor: grapefruit or lime peel

Instructions: Mix the reposado tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and agave nectar in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a glass over ice.. Add soda water. Garnish with grapefruit peel or lemon wedge.

British Virgin Islands: The Painkiller

Ingredients:

  • 120ml of pineapple juice
  • 30ml of orange juice
  • 30ml of coconut milk (Canned)
  • 90ml of ron
  • Nutmeg

Instructions: Combine the first four ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Pour over crushed ice and sprinkle with nutmeg (freshly grated if possible).

NY: Manhattan

Ingredients:

Instructions: Mix the vermouth, whiskey and angostura bitters with plenty of ice in a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. Shake well for a few 30 seconds. Strain the contents into a cocktail glass. Squeeze the orange juice over the drink to taste. Garnish as you like.

Singapore: Singapore Sling

Ingredients:

  • 45ml of gin
  • 15ml of Cherry Heering (or any other cherry liqueur)
  • 7ml of Cointreau
  • 7ml of Benedictine (or another herbal liqueur)
  • 7ml of lime juice
  • 10ml of grenadine
  • Decor: cherries, a piece of pineapple

Instructions: Combine all ingredients with ice in a shaker and shake well. Serve in a cocktail glass with ice and garnish with a slice of cherry and pineapple.

Peru: Pisco Sour

Ingredients:

  • 70ml of Pisco (or another brandy)
  • 30ml de sirope
  • 30ml of lime juice
  • 1 egg white

Instructions: Mix the Pisco, with the syrup, lime juice and egg white. Add ice and shake vigorously in a cocktail shaker until there is a nice thick layer of foam on top (many purists insist that shake is the right way). Pour into a glass or cocktail glass, add a drop of narrowness on top if you want and enjoy!

Ingredients:

Instructions: Pour the ginger beer into a tall glass filled with ice. Add the rum and garnish with a lime wedge.
