How To Cope With The Will To Travel During COVID-19 Times

Or in other words how to cure Wanderlust…

“Wanderlust /ˈwɒndəlʌst/: a strong desire to travel”

If it has ever happened to you that when you have started to plan some of your trips and draw a map of what you want to see, write the itinerary, read information about the destination, you have started to find yourself happier, excited and positive; then you are one of mine! For us planning trips, although we are not going to be able to do them for a while, it's a great way to cope with the desire to travel during these times of covid-19; to face that morriña that enters us when reviewing the photos of our last trips.

It seems that we are already seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and although we really don't know when we can travel again without restrictions, without quarantines 14 days when entering a country and ultimately, just like we used to do before; It does not mean that we should stop looking for inspiration for future trips.!

Como Samantha Brown, travel television presenter, said: "The journey returns. A small fact that I love is that simply the act of PLANNING a trip puts us in the same psychologically happy place as being in a destination “.

So, we may not be able to book flights or hotels right now, but nothing prevents you from being able to lay the foundations to decide where you want to go, where do you want to stay; to take your time reading accommodation reviews, restaurants and activities and ultimately to plan the trip of your dreams!

Here are some tips that I find useful for “cure” those desire to travel that many of us suffered during these times of Covid-19.

How To Cope With The Will To Travel During COVID-19 Times

→ USE PINTEREST TO DREAM

Pinterest is one of my favorite places to find inspiration and you can find everything!, from inspiration from travel outfits or handicraft reeds to photos and travel experiences around the world.

If you also cut out magazines to create inspirational collages in your early life, now you can use Pinterest to create virtual boards with everything that inspires you, makes you smile and also to plan the trip of your dreams!. Find and save your favorite places, where do you want to stay, the outfits you would like to put in your suitcase, inspirational photos you would like to take during your trip, the restaurants you don't want to miss…

→ PLAN IN ADVANCE

What kind of trip / s do you want to do in the future?, which are yours 5 favorite destinations and why?, At what time of the year would it be better to visit each of them?

Will it be a tropical party in one of the Maldives islands? Or maybe you want to do a safari in Africa like the one we made and Kenya! Or maybe you want to get your diving certificate (PADI) in a destination like the Philippines or Australia! Or maybe, you may want more to stay in Spain and see small cities and towns that you have not visited before.

Reading travel diaries of other travelers is another of my favorite activities when planning a trip and it also helps me cope with the desire to travel during times of COVID-19., social distancing and quarantine.

This is also a good time to buckle up and save money for your future trips..

→ EXPLORE AIR ROUTES

Use websites like Skyscanner or Momondo to see possible routes to any part of the world. I don't know if I'm a little weird, but i love doing these at least once a week, investigating the possible flights that I will be able to take in the future and finding the best offers to travel cheaper.

Think of it as a “showcase” of different options for your future holidays!

→ HAZ A TOUR (VIRTUAL) OF YOUR FAVORITE MUSEUMS

Fortunately, on the Internet do not stop emerging initiatives that allow us to travel without leaving our homes, being an infinite source of entertainment when we need it most.

Because many museums have closed due to covid-19, Many of them now offer virtual tours!

In fact, Google (With Street View) has been associated with more than 2,500 museums and galleries to offer you online exhibitions. From the British Museum in London to the Guggenheim Museum in New York and Bilbao or the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, you can find everything in Google Arts & Culture.

Guided tours are offered from this platform, frame recognition and even the possibility of finding your double in art history with biometric parameters. further they make available to everyone works that have already been dismantled but that persist in this world street atlas, and that, thanks to this initiative, they can and will continue to enjoy.
