Kenya Itinerary 2 weeks, with safari and beach.
In this post I will share our Kenya itinerary 2 weeks. However, if you have got fewer days can change it to your liking, removing some activity, and the advice I give in the last paragraph of the post.
Our trip to Kenya was quite improvised. We bought a flight 2-3 weeks in advance and had no clear what we wanted to do there until the week before our flight.
After a lot of research and talk about the different possibilities, We decided that we wanted to mix some adventure and nature (climbing Mount Kenya), followed by safari in Masai Mara and finally a few days relaxing on the coast of Mombasa.
Having returned home I think this route is ideal for which you seek to know different faces of this wonderful country, slowly but enjoying each day to the maximum.

Our itinerary Kenya 2 weeks:
The final itinerary we design for our 15/16 days Kenya It was:
- Day 1: Flight London - Dubai - Nairobi. Making contact with Nairobi.
We arrived at Nairobi in the afternoon, We took a Uber to the hotel, We showered and rest to recharge your batteries. Later we went for a walk around the area and eat something. We went to the prontito bed because the next day was up early. - Day 2: Pick up at hotel in Nairobi to begin our ascent to the Mount Kenya arrival to the first camp.
- Days 3 – 4: Ascent Mount Kenya (You have all the information about this unique experience en is post).
- Day 5: End of route and return by car Nairobi in the morning. Free afternoon in the city. We take the afternoon to visit the conservation center girafas, to which we were in Uber from our hotel. Totally recommended if you like as much as my girafas.
Note: Depending on your arrival time other things you can do in the Kenyan capital are: ver el Elephant Orphanage, Karen Blixen's house, try its cuisine in one of its restaurants or visit a Ong. - Day 6: Air travel to Masai Mara. Afternoon safari Masai Mara.
Our plane arrived at the Masai Mara reserve in the morning, just in time to eat something, explore common areas of the hotel and rest before our first safari. - Days 7 – 8: Full day safarisMasai Mara, one in the morning (6:30am) and afternoon (4pm) every day.
- Day 9: Safari tomorrow Masai Mara. Food in the housing. Flight to Nairobi in the afternoon. Changing airport for our flight Nairobi - Mombasa. Uber shuttle from the airport to Mombasa Diani beach (Evening arrival).
This day was quite long and we arrived very tired Diani Beach, perhaps recommend that if you can voléis directly to Ukunda Airport. - Days 10 – 14: Diani beach.
- Day 15: Tomorrow in Diani beach. Flight Ukunda - Nairobi afternoon. Overnight in Nairobi.
- Day 16: Back home. Flight to Nairobi early in the morning - Dubai - London.
Then I will leave a Kenya map with all the places we visited (marked in red). I also include other parks and reserves that I find interesting and we could not visit because of time (marked in green).
Adventure, Safari and Beach
You see we chose to divide our trip 3 large blocks that I detail below:
Adventure on Mount Kenya
It is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa. It is located in the center of country, in the protected area of the nature reserve of Mount Kenya, to some 150 kilometers from the capital (Nairobi).
You can read all about our adventure climbing to its summit, and more information, en is post.
Safari en Masai Mara
Masai Mara is the most interesting and rich reserve in Kenya. A surface 1800 square kilometers, It is located in the southwestern corner of the country. Tanzania borders in its southern sector, It is actually an extension of the Serengeti Park.
Both share the same ecosystem environments and a common wildlife, depending on the time they move from one side to another.
Nature Reserve Masai Mara is also home to more than450 bird species, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, hyenas and many other species.
If you have three or more days to visit this area, It is safest to enjoy the company of the Big Five (the “big five”): the leopard, the lion, African elephant, buffalo and rhino.
Reláx en Diani Beach
Diani Beach It is located 30 kilometres (19 miles) to the south of Mombasa. It is one of the largest Kenyan coast, with large hotels on the beach overlooking the Indian Ocean.
It has been voted the best beach destination in Africa for the fifth consecutive year, since 2015.
It is easy to reach, and has good range of accommodation, so it was chosen in our case.
How to plan your itinerary?
- establishes the number of days of that you have, taking into account the hours of arrival and departure of your flight.
- Decide what activities you want to make. ¿Can you make them all?. If that is not the case, What they are priority for your trip and what dispensable this time?
- If you want to make safari, decide which park / s visit. If you do other activities or have a few days, I recommend selecting just one. We choose Masai Mara and does not disappoint!
- If You have a few days, fly from one park to another, or a park to your next destination in Kenya. This option is more expensive but helps you to use your time better.
- You can hire the trip with a travel agency or do like us and riding your trip to your taste, hiring safaris directly with the hotel you like in the Natural Park of your choice.
- If you travel to Diani Beach found fly from Ukunda to Nairobi (just one hour) one of the lowcost airlines. You can also fly from Mombasa, but the path to drive from Mombasa is Diani 1-2 hours as traffic.
- Takes camera with different lenses and SD cards if possible. You'll want to take pictures of all!, especially if you go on safari.
- By last, but not least, I recommend that you purchase an SIM card Prepaid arrival in Kenya. In this way you will have internet Mobile and you can use your GPS, internet, and other smooth uber. I recommend you do it right out to pick up your luggage, in one of the kiosks airport. We bought a company safaricom and a 10 gb euros had plenty for the whole trip and free calls (I can come in handy to call hotels, guides, etc). You can pay card or get cash without problems in the cashier there right side of the kiosk.
I hope there will useful like the post and you find it helps our itinerary in Kenya 2 weeks to plan your trip.
You will soon have available guides in Masai Mara Safari, Nairobi y Diani Beach.
